Final product on synchronized robotic arms
Oceanides was by far the most ambitious project I’ve had the pleasure to work on — a bold sequel to a previous collaboration between Moment Factory and Royal Caribbean. The concept centered around a choreographed underwater dance performed within an illusionary 3D box, mounted on a robotic arm programmed to simulate real-time perspective shifts. Our challenge was to take an already groundbreaking idea and push it even further — and we did.
The story follows a Japanese pearl diver who ventures too deep into the ocean and encounters five mystical water nymphs. What unfolds is a poetic, cat-and-mouse ballet of synchronized underwater movement — a surreal opera beneath the sea. In the end, the diver is gifted the largest pearl in the ocean and ascends back to the surface, transformed.
To bring this vision to life, we engineered a custom-built water tank capable of holding not only the pressure of water and a live performer, but also rotating 360 degrees. Each nymph was designed with a distinct visual identity inspired by ocean life — from bioluminescent fish to cod and crocodiles — creating a rich and fantastical underwater world.
I was the Art Director during the design phase of this project, where I played a key role in talent casting, as well as establishing the visual language of the costume, makeup, and prop design. During the shoot, I supported the production on set, working closely with the film crew and director as a production assistant to help bring the creative vision to life.

This project was a true fusion of creativity and engineering, and the result was nothing short of magical.
